Contact the local police department of the city where the vehicle was towed. All private property tows for illegal parking, vehicles that are abandoned, or repossessions must be called in to the local police.
In the City Of Dallas and State of Texas, all apartment complexes are required to have a "Tow Away" sign posted at the entrance of the complex. This sign will include the name and phone number of the towing company that assists the apt complex with the towing of illegally parked vehicles. If no signs are posted, please contact the local police dept.
Cars parked in a tow-away zone, parked at businesses/apartments WITHOUT valid parking stickers, or parked on property without permission may be towed at owner/property manager's expense. These tows are known as Private Property Tows.

In the State of Texas and the City of Dallas all private property tows and repossessions must be reported to the local police department. Please contact the local police department in the city where the vehicle was towed, for help locating an impounded vehicle.
Vehicles that are towed off private property and/or abandoned on private property are subject to a number of state regulated charges. In the City of Dallas any illegally parked car at a business/apartment will be subject to a MAX fee of $121(Light Duty) plus an applicable tax. Any vehicles that are towed for illegal parking or for being abandoned on private property BUT that are in a different municipalities, other than Dallas, will be subject to a MAX fee of $272 (Light Duty). Other fees may be added, for example, Notification Fee ($50), Impound fee ($20), and Storage Fee ($21.03 plus tax)
A repossession agent (hired by the bank or working for the city) can come onto your private property at anytime (day or night) to repossess any of the banks collateral or to remove illegally parked/ abandoned cars.
To recover your car from a VSF (Vehicle Storage Facility) impound in the City of Dallas you must: - Provide Valid (Not Expired) Photo Identification, Proof of vehicle ownership or proof of authorized use of vehicle, and pay all fee for towing and storage.
Acceptable Photo ID: - Any state issued photo identification or driver license, Any photo ID issued by the government, Any photo ID issued by foreign government such as Passport, DL from another country.
Prove you are owner or proof of authorized use of vehicle: - Drivers license/ID that matches the owner information from the DMV's car registration database, an insurance card showing that you are a named insured for the car, the certificate of title to the car showing your name as the owner, A notarized power-of-attorney signed by the car owner, a tax collectors receipt and a car registration renewal card with your conforming identification, a current automobile lease or rental agreement signed by the operator of the car.
Paying all fees for Towing and Storage: - The max charge for a private property tow is $272 for a vehicle weighting up to 10,000 lbs. $380 for a vehicle weighing more than 10,000 lbs but less than 25,000 lbs. $459 per unit for vehicles that weighting more than 25,000 lbs with a $978 maximum. These are the maximum rates in the state of Texas. Lower rates may be set by local municipals or county rules.
